your first anniversary
As you were about to mark your first anniversary in the workplace, something came up. Christmas party. You were surprised, as you noticed warmer days. In fact, you kept the window in your room opened all day. Nothing like seeing the warmth (in your own room). So it seemed rather odd to talk about the Christmas party. You dont even notice any signs of the cold wind, which would mean the beginning of the autumn season. You were grateful for it, but you still havent figured out why your colleagues recalled the last party. You thought you heard enough after listening to their conversation for ten minutes or so. You had second thoughts, as you hardly knew your colleagues. In fact, you were hoping to get drunk with your former housemates on Christmas. If they dont have too many commitments. And one of them hasnt found a cure to wanderlust. And then you realized that it would be fine to have fun with your colleagues. It wouldnt be right to remember them during those stressful moments. You c huckled when they recalled the last party. What would you do? These were the things you would suggest to themSomeone had a crush on you. One welches wary of the member of the HR Department, suspecting that she might have broken the rule. And he noticed it. A few glasses of red wine revealed his true feeling. No one noticed him putting a mistletoe on the door, and he would thank his lucky stars when she was the first to come. What a sneaky fellow, as he blamed Santa for the unexpected kiss. It seemed harmless, but there were times when emotions would be hard to control. Better to pay attention to the surroundings. It was too late for regrets. After that unexpected kiss, your colleague wished she didnt attend the party. She could have told your anfhrer that she would be unavailable. You imagined a pimple on her nose. Rudolph would be proud. Not that you were required to be chummy with your colleagues, but it was one of those things. She might have a change of mind. There should be a beh avior code. It reminded you of a Victorian novel, where the characters must travel to a Mediterranean region for a holiday. And then they wouldnt care what the rest of the world were thinking of them. It would seem proper to act formally, but you wanted to be the center of attraction. You imagined an ugly sweater. You needed a drink. You havent told your colleagues that you were addicted to red wine. A glass (of red wine) would be good for your health, but you dont practice moderation. You might have been an embarrassment during the last party, which resolved you to practice self-control during the next party. You dont want to do the walk of shame. You deactivated your Facebook account. Your colleagues talked about someone who used to be a part of your department. His only fault was he had no one to talk after the party. Some people would look at social media as their (very public) diary. And you still dont know why.You were itching to go back to work when the conversation was over. Y ou sensed that this topic would be brought up again in a few months. It would mean one thing.
